Services
Smooth, hair-free skin shouldn’t come with weekly shaves, razor burn, or itchy stubble.
IPL delivers the sleek aesthetic your body deserves by eliminating the hair follicles responsible for regrowth.
It’s fast, long-lasting, and safe for all skin types – including Fitzpatrick Types IV to VI (often not suitable for traditional laser hair removal).

Our Differences
Not all IPL machines are made equal.
We use the Alma Harmony XL Pro, a medical-grade device that’s approved by the FDA for over 65 clinical applications.
Our therapists are extensively trained in both general and device-specific protocols, ensuring the highest standard of care.
Using precise wavelength calibration tailored to your individual skin type and hair characteristics, they deliver results that are not only highly effective but also long-lasting, for a truly refined and personalised experience.
Low-quality IPL devices are generally not suitable for individuals with darker skin tones.
However, the high-performance Alma Harmony XL Pro is TGA-approved for safe and effective use across all skin types, including Fitzpatrick Type VI.
Technology
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a type of phototherapy that delivers broad-spectrum light from an applicator head.
(Laser uses one specific wavelength of light.)
That light targets certain cells in your hairs, generating heat that destroys the target cells, damages the hair follicles, and hinders regrowth.
The exact mix of wavelengths varies depending on your skin type, the IPL device, and the type of hairs you’re targeting.
What to Expect
Step 1
In the 4 weeks leading up to your appointment, avoid anti-ageing peels, solariums, and direct sun exposure.
Two weeks before, start avoiding fake tan, tanning products (such as self-tanning moisturiser), and skin treatments (such as skin needling, chemical peels, and resurfacing).
One week before, stop using vitamin A (retinol) products on the treatment area.
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before you arrive at our clinic. Avoid applying body oil, moisturiser, deodorant, or anything else to your skin.
Keep in mind that we can’t treat you if you’re sunburned, have an active skin condition or wound, or are taking certain medications. If you’ve been taking tanning drugs such as melanotan-II, there needs to be at minimum of 6 months between your last dose and IPL hair removal.
Step 2
Most IPL hair removal treatments take 20 to 30 minutes.
During your session, we’ll move the applicator head gently across your skin.
You may experience a light ‘snapping’ sensation as the head emits a pulse of light, but it shouldn’t feel painful.
Step 3
After your treatment, your skin may feel slightly tender (like you’ve been mildly sunburned). We’ll recommend a skin-appropriate soothing gel when your session finishes.
Avoid using makeup on the treatment area for the next 24 hours.
Stay out of the sun, don’t pick or scratch at your skin, and don’t wear tight/restrictive clothing on the treatment area for the next 48 hours.
For 72 hours after your treatment, skip active topicals such as vitamin A (retinol) creams and avoid vigorous exercise and heat exposure (for example, saunas, spas, and steam rooms).
Avoid direct sun exposure to the treatment area for the next 2 weeks, and make sure you wear SPF50+ sunscreen daily.
Questions
No, IPL doesn’t permanently remove hair. After the initial batch of treatments, though, you can expect to go anywhere from 6 months to a year without seeing regrowth. Once hairs do start to re-emerge, a maintenance treatment will generally eliminate them for another 6 to 12 months.
The machine we use, the Alma Harmony XL Pro, is safe for all skin tones, including Fitzpatrick Types IV, V and VI. (Other IPL machines may put people with darker skin at risk of hyperpigmentation.) The Harmony XL Pro can also treat all varieties of hair – including the light, fine hairs that IPL typically struggles with.
Before your session, one of our trained technicians will screen you for contraindications. We can’t perform IPL if you’re sunburned, have an active skin condition or injury, or have recently undergone certain skin treatments.
Generally, you’ll need an initial batch of 6 to 10 treatments (roughly 4 weeks apart) to eliminate visible hairs. Coarse, dark hairs respond best to IPL, but our FDA-approved machine is also capable of removing the finer, lighter hairs that other applicators struggle with. Once the initial batch of treatments is complete, book a maintenance treatment every 6 to 12 months to catch any stubborn regrowth.
Yes, like laser, you need to shave before IPL. We can’t treat you if you arrive at our clinic with visible hair on the treatment area. IPL works by essentially burning the hair root – and, if you don’t shave, it will burn any hairs on your skin too (which is painful for you and unpleasant for our staff).
Different people have different experiences. Most of our clients find that IPL is quite similar to laser. You might experience a light ‘snapping’ feeling as the pulses strike your skin (not dissimilar to a rubber band gently hitting you), but the sensation isn’t generally ‘painful’.
