Relaxation Massage
After periods of stress, it’s common for your body to hold onto tension, leaving muscles feeling tight and stiff.
Every treatment we deliver designed to gently unwind that stress and help you reconnect with your body.
Our relaxation massage is a soothing therapy that uses long, rhythmic strokes and light, circular movements to ease muscle tension and promote full-body relaxation.
Also known as Swedish or classic massage, this technique is gentle and nurturing – ideal if you’re looking to relax rather than target deep muscle knots.
Whether you’re recovering from a stressful week or simply taking time for yourself, our relaxation massage offers the perfect reset.
Your loved ones need time – to pause, to relax, to restore.
Help them make it happen with a fully customisable Face Works gift voucher (redeemable across all in-clinic services)*.
*Non-transferrable, non-refundable, and non-redeemable for cash. Must be used within 12 months of purchase date. Must be presented and redeemed at the time of appointment. Forfeited for no-shows or cancellations within 24 hours of a booked treatment.
Benefits
A massage can feel incredibly relaxing – and it comes with a host of health benefits.

Massage improves local blood flow, supporting your body’s natural detox process.

Gentle pressure techniques help release tight muscle fibres, allowing the muscles to relax.

Massage can enhance your mood, reduce anxiety, and even improve your sleep.

Massage can alleviate pain by stimulating the release of endorphins, your body’s natural painkiller.

process
Step 1
Before your session, your beauty therapist will ask you to complete a medical history questionnaire, which covers both skin and musculoskeletal concerns.
Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes before your scheduled treatment time to complete the questionnaire in our waiting area.

Hot Stone Massages
Hot stones have been used across Asia for thousands of years to relieve muscle pain and tension.
Localised heat can help relax your muscles and increase circulation – perfect for everything from relaxation to better flexibility.
During your hot stone massage, your therapist will place smooth, flat stones on muscle groups across your body, including along your spine.
After the heat penetrates your muscles, your therapist will apply relaxation massage techniques to maximise the effects of the stones.
Questions
Massage works through 3 main mechanisms.
When external mechanical pressure is applied to soft tissue, it increases local blood flow to both skin and muscles – a mechanism that’s been proven to apply to massage therapy. That, in turn, can help reduce inflammation and improve tissue health.
Massage can also relieve myofascial trigger points (which you probably know as ‘knots’) and
fibrous adhesions (where collagen fibres form atypical connections to surrounding tissue). Both conditions can develop through muscle strain, overuse, and injury, and can cause local and regional pain, decreased flexibility, and increased tension. Massage therapy can lengthen and stretch your muscles (which helps remove knots) and physically break down adhesions.
Both of those physical mechanisms are important – but massage also has clear mental health benefits. It releases serotonin and dopamine and reduces cortisol, which improves your mood and reduces stress, and has even been shown to
alleviate psychiatric disorders.
We can’t perform a massage if you have:
Other contraindications include allergies to products we use and certain medical conditions and medication.
During your initial consultation, we’ll collect information about your medical history, including current medication usage. Your beauty therapist will discuss any treatment restrictions once we’ve reviewed that information.
If you do develop an acute contraindication (like a cut, open sore, or sunburn), please call and cancel – due to health and safety requirements, we won’t be able to treat you, so cancelling ahead of time makes it easier for us to rebook you at a later date.
Yes, our clinic’s complex has on-site bathroom facilities.
A deep tissue massage involves slow, deep strokes and sustained pressure to specific muscle areas. Your therapist will use their hands and elbows to deliver the right level of intensity. Ideally, a deep tissue massage reaches ‘deeper’ levels of muscle tissue that a traditional massage can’t, which can help relieve chronic tightness or pain.
A remedial massage, on the other hand, is a therapeutic treatment designed to address specific health concerns. For example, you might request a remedial massage for lower back pain or a shoulder injury. Remedial massages are more like standard medical treatments (the goal is to treat a condition, not relax you), which is why beauty therapists have to undergo additional training to deliver them.
Chronic pain can be caused by many different conditions. Some of those conditions – such as stress, nerve pain, and muscle knots – can be alleviated or treated through massage therapy.
Generally, though, a single session won’t be enough to rectify a problem caused by months or years of adverse behaviour (like bad posture). Many people with chronic pain experience temporary relief from massage, but find their pain returns after a few days.
The best way to treat chronic pain is to have the root cause diagnosed by a medical professional, and then have treatment delivered under a multidisciplinary approach – which, depending on your condition, may involve ongoing massage therapy.
Our sessions range from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. You can choose the duration that best fits your schedule and needs.
Please inform us of any medical conditions, injuries or allergies when booking. Our therapists will adjust the massage accordingly or advise if your selected massage is contraindicated.
Massage is generally safe for most people. Our massage therapists are trained to provide safe and effective treatments. If you have any health concerns, please consult your doctor before booking.
Yes, we do offer pregnancy (prenatal) massage, and our therapists are trained in techniques that are safe and beneficial for expectant mothers. We typically provide this service after the first trimester, but we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before booking.
